Sometimes you just gotta try it.....

My 10 year old grandson had an idea for a new sandwich. He thought it was a great success. I wasn't sure. So last night for supper I decided to try it.

It is made like a grilled cheese sandwich. You butter your bread and lay the first piece butter side down in your skillet.

Then you spread Ragu Pizza Quick traditional pizza sauce on the top of that piece of bread.

Next, I put crumbled sausage on mine, but you could put pepperoni or what ever you want. I just happened to have left over sausage from breakfast so I crumbled some up. Jimmy Dean makes sausage crumbles. I think I might get some of these to keep in the freezer for when I want to make this again.

Next sprinkle shredded cheese on top of everything. I use Colby/Monterey Jack because it is my favorite cheese with pizza sauce. I get the finely shredded because it melts a lot better.

Then you top it off with the your other piece of buttered bread with the butter on top. Then simply cook it like you would a grilled cheese sandwich, flipping it over to brown both sides. I cooked mine on #6 on my burner dial. It was just the right amount of time to make sure the cheese melted good and everything was good an brown. I must say that Caleb was right. It was delicious.
