Milk glass madness

I am still on the lookout for this hobnail flower pot in milk glass. Could kick myself for not buying when I saw it at a yard sale a few weeks ago.

I would also like to find one of these to use on my desk in my new office when it gets finished with the remodeling. It would make a cute pencil holder. 

I think this would be neat to have for my Junior Mints on my desk. 

This square flower pot would be cute too for my philodendron. 

I would love to find one of these cake platters. It is gorgeous.

And I am still on the prowl for a set of these dresser lamps. I really, really want to find a set. 

That's my wish list for today. I'm heading out to some yard sales and hope to find at least one new piece of milk glass....even if it isn't on this wish list. 

Some beauties for Pyrex lovers

I have never seen this pattern before. It is called golden wildflower. I really like it. I also love this style of casserole dish. This may just have to go on my wish list. 

I would just love to find a great bargain on a set of pink nesting bowls. This are gorgeous. 

I am in love with the town and country pattern. I have the small one in this set and would like to find the large and medium ones. 

I also adore the Town and Country Cinderella set.

Some of the town and country is all yellow and some is all brown. I would love to find this oval in the yellow and brown mix. Loving it. 

I seem to be seeing a lot of people finding the black snowflake lately. I am starting to like it. There is one in our local antique store for $18 but I don't want to pay that much for it. She has sales occasionally and I'm waiting to see if she does soon. 

I also like the black and white gooseberry. It's different.

I have never seen this in person but it is one that I think I would just have to have if I ever stumble upon one. It is a barbed wire pattern. I just think it is awesome. 

I have never heard of this pattern called hex signs. But I do like the way it looks. 

I am on a mission right now. I found the little dip part of the chip and dip for $3 at an antique store. I just need to find the bracket and big bowl. Keeping my fingers crossed. 

Some tips for average household items...

I have seen some of these before and some I have not. I saw a few of them that I definitely would try. These were posted on Facebook and Pinterest and had so many layers of posting that I don't know who originally did them, but I hope they don't mind me sharing.

Alternate uses for items around the home

I have seen alternate uses for Pyrex other than cooking. I know I use one in the laundry room tho hold clothes pins and one on the Baker's rack to hold coffee filters. But here are some unique ones I saw online. Some I like; some not so much. This first one is cute to use a divided vegetable dish as a catch-all for keys and change. But the way I toss my keys around, I would probably crack or chip it. So this isn't a good idea for me. 

If I were to find a cheap bowl that was really stained and I knew I wouldn't be able to cook, mix or serve with it, I would probably be tempted to do this. 

This little candle in a bowl is cute. If I could find a Christmas bowl, I would put a big candle in it and surround it with ornaments or pine cones. I am seriously going to try to do this.

I know this is not out of the normal, but I love it anyway. I would probably want to get artificial fruit though so I could keep it looking the same all year. Or maybe fill one of the autumn looking patterns with little pumpkins and gourds during the fall. 

I love this. It is just too adorable. I have been looking for this bowl for awhile. Finally found one and it had a hairline fracture inside and was $18 so I didn't get it. 

I'm not so sure about this one. A Pyres lamp? Would worry that the weight would eventually pull it out of the ceiling.



I have some cute Pyrex coffee cups and mugs. This would be adorable to do some little plants in.



And last, I am definitely not sure about this one. I love animals and even had a cat for 17 years. But as much as I loved K.C. I can never in my wildest dreams imagine letting her use my Pyrex divided dishes for food and water. But I have seen a lot of Pyrex-ers that do use them for pet food. To each their own.



Here are some other items I use for purposes other than what they were made for. I love this cute little coffee cup and since my bathroom is a beach theme, it was perfect to use in there.

I also found this little candy dish that had a shell scalloped pattern in it. It was perfect as a soap dish to be used in my corner garden tub in the beach bathroom.

As you can see my beach bathroom has several pieces you normally don't see in a bathroom. I just had to have this cup that I found at a yard sale for .25 cents. It was perfect to hold shells.

In my spare bathroom, I have a lot of floral and garden theme. I found this tea for one set at a yard sale for just $1.00. I took the lid off and stuck Q-tips in it for easy reach. It made a cute container for them. I use them to take my eye make-up off. I used to use cotton balls but the cotton would come lose and sometimes get in my eye because of the liquid make-up remover.  

But the neat thing is that a tea for one has the cup on the bottom. So if you lift the tea pot off, you will find cotton balls. As much as I change nail polish, I go through a lot of cotton balls and polish remover. This was a perfect way to store two items I like to have in easy reach.

Weekend wrap up

I had an awesome weekend. It started out with a quick trip to a yard sale where I picked up this little jar. I'm going to fill it with candy corn or better yet, Hershey's kisses in the fall wrapper.

I bought this little doiley because I love these old crochet patterns. My home office has some pink in it so I will be finding somewhere in there for it to go. 

From there, I went to the flea market. I found this for just $7 and asked her if she would take $5 and she said yes. I am starting to really love this pattern. 

I already had this little bowl in the same pattern. 

In my mind, once I get two things in the same pattern I consider it a pattern I'm collecting. 

Then on Sunday, I went to my son's church. After church we went down to the river and I got to watch my granddaughter Alexis get baptized. It was awesome. 

She was smiling from ear to ear when it was done. 

After the baptism we went to eat at Cheddars. I am not a big eater anyway, so I usually order an appetizer for my meal. I ordered the chicken finger basket and fries. She asked if I wanted the appetizer and I said yes and to bring it when she brought everybody's meal. This was what they brought me as an appetizer (I checked the ticket and yes, I was just charged for the appetizer portion.) I am sure you can agree that this is a lot of chicken.

Then when I was on my way home, my grandson Caleb called. He had been to the flea market with his Papaw Kenny on his dad's side of the family. He said he got some money from Papaw to buy me something he knew I would like. It was this pretty milk glass vase. He knows I like milk glass. I was very pleased with it. I'm going to buy some fall mums to put in it. 

A great way to spend a Sunday morning.....

God reaches down and touches a newborn baby. Two months early and weighing less than 2 pounds, He guided this precious little girl and watches over her daily. 

We all watched as she grew. She will be 9 years old next month. And is one of the sweetest little girls you will ever meet. 

God continues to bless her and she continues to grow in His love. Today is a monumental day in her life as she will be stepping down into the river to be baptized. Her Papaw and I are very proud of her. We love you Alexis Caroline.
