Call me crazy....

Call me crazy but my blog is moving...again. Originally at Mamaw's Place, I was posting recipes, projects, crafts, family stories, stories of faith, good finds and bargains and a variety of other information. I had a website attach itself to mine and couldn't get it to go away, thus my new blog was formed.

I have fixed the problem after months of research and trial and error. I am still getting the majority of my comments over at Mamaw's Place and it continues to grow.

So as of today, I am going to move back to Mamaw's Place and hope my followers will move back with me.

Just visit www.mamawsplace4.blogspot.com to catch up on what's going on in my world.

Leaving summer behind...

We have spent the last seven days at the beach. Just me and hubby. We have sat out in the sun, walked on the beach, played in the sand. We have tried new places to eat and revisited some of our old haunts.

We have watched the harvest moon rise in the sky and watched the morning sunset. As we prepare to leave this morning to go back home, I am packing up the flip flops I brought with me for the trip. There is a finality in packing away my flip flops for the year. Another summer has come and gone and I'm not sure I'm ready to part with my flip flops.

As long as I am wearing flip flops, I can pretend that summer isn't really over.

I can put them on and remember the fun times at the beach.

We had such a wonderful vacation I hate to see it end.

Yarn Crafts

I love yarn. There are so many different colors and types that I never tire of it. I keep accumulating it and thought I would check to see if I can find some new craft ideas. Here are some ideas I found. You can buy the letters at AC Moore and Hobby Lobby. I would like ot do BOO for Halloween and JOY for Christmas.

yarn craft...would be cute in christmas colors ('NOEL', 'JOY', etc.) -or- a black 'BOO' for Halloween

These are so cute. I learned how to make these years ago, but had forgotten all about them.

Octopus for "yarn craft" day

This is a cute idea. You blow up a balloon and cover it with yarn dipped in glue. Once it dries, you pop the balloon and remove it and you have a need little ornament.

Blow up the balloons. Coat with Vaseline to keep the glue and yarn from sticking to it. Mix 1/2c corn starch, 1/4c warm water, and glue in container. Feed yarn through glue mixture and wrap balloon vertically first, then change directions to make patterns you like. Tie yarn to end of balloon and hang from a broom handle or clothes rod to dry for 24 hours. Pop balloon and remove.

This is a cute little doll. It should be easy to make.

yarn craft- doll

I know how to chain stitch in crochet so I could easily make these.

tangled happy: Yarn Crafting With Kids: Chained Wreath Ornament. OR yarn crafting with Erin! I may try this.

This would be super simple to do.

Easy yarn craft: candy corn

Lots of good ideas for yarn crafts.

From Dusk to Daylight

Dusk with the harvest moon rising out of the ocean. Isn't this beautiful....

But the next morning was just as breathtaking as the sun started to rise out of the very same ocean.

That is just crazy.....

I know I love Pyrex and many of my readers do as well. I see crazy prices all the time. I see sets of Cinderella bowls for $145 for the set. Yet I have seen them for as low as $35 for a set.

I have seen individual pieces for $20 or more at my local shops. And I recently bought a mint condition Americana bowl for .05 cents at a yard sale.

But recently on Ebay, some listed a rare piece for auction and the crazies came out to bid. I didn't bid because it is not a piece I desire, but I watched with wonder when someone pointed out that the bidding was at $585.00. Yes, you saw that right...5-8-5....for a bowl with a lid!! It got crazy ridiculous and when the piece finally, what did the winner pay. A whopping $2600.00!!! I am still sitting here astounded. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever under any conditions pay that for a bowl. Guess I need to keep my eyes open for one of these at a junk shop and put it on E-bay. It sure must be made of gold.

Weekend wrap up - part 2

Since this past weekend was Alexis's birthday, she spent the night with me Friday night. She had a ballgame on Saturday so I got to fix her hair and get her ready to cheer.

She was so excited because as a 9 year old she can now ride up front. So we decided to go to McDonald's for a birthday pancakes so she could ride up front.

We ended up going to a yard sale before the ball game. I was able to get some good bargains. I picked up two Homer Laughlin plates for just .50 cents each.

This cute little pumpkin was just a dime.

A friend at church gave me these Campbell soup mugs that I have been looking for. I was thrilled.

At the yard sale, I found another hobnail milk glass vase. I love the hobnail pattern.

I found this cute coffee cup for a friend of mine who collects big coffee cups.

I found this hobnail lamp for just $1.00. I need to find a shade, but I wasn't going to pass it up for just a buck.

She had these beautiful teacups and was asking $2.00 each for them. I wasn't going to pay that for them so I turned to walk away. She asked me if that was too much and I said I thought it was. So she said I could have them all for $1.00 if I wanted them. She just wanted to get rid of them so I took them. who wouldn't at just .25 each.

It was a great weekend.
