Weekend Wrap Up and Happy Birthday to Mom

First things first. Today is my mother's birthday. She is 83 today and I am so blessed to still have her in my life. Happy birthday, Mommy.

I look a lot like my mommy. This was us 3 years ago when she and my sister came down and spent a week with me for her 80th birthday.

I had a good weekend and did find a few things I couldn't resist. One was this new purse at Walmart. I love the color of it.

A dear friend of mine has a new embroidery machine. When I was 18, a lady I worked for nick named me B. Since then, most of my family calls me that and a lot of the people from church do as well. So I love cute whimsical bees. My friend made me this tote and I adore it.

As I was gathering stuff for my yard sale, I came across this cross stitch in a box of memories that I had forgotten we had. Many years ago, when I used to cross stitch all the time, my hubby thought it looked relaxing and decided to try his hand at it. This was the first thing he made. He even made the wooden frame for it and we gave it to his mom. When she passed away, his Dad gave it back to us. It now hangs on my kitchen wall.

I made me some biscuits and gravy for my supper over the weekend. This is only the second time in my life I have made homemade gravy from scratch. I didn't even know how to make it until just a few weeks ago. I made bacon gravy because I am not a big fan of sausage gravy.

The next day, I had this for supper. Yeah, I know, not a very healthy meal. But with chocolate syrup and caramel, how could I resist.

I went to one yard sale this weekend, but it was worth it. I have been looking for a tall white vase. I love milk glass so I was beyond thrilled to find this one for just .25 cents.

I wanted it for the kitchen table for my red, white and blue patriotic display for Flag Day this week. I love it.

But my find of the weekend were these coffee cups for just $3.00.

Six perfect cups. No scratches, scrapes, chips, nicks or anything. They don't even look like they were ever used. I fell in love. When I researched them, I found out that Libby made them in the late 40's early 50's to help promote the sale of Maxwell House coffee. I just think they are adorable.

The only problem was I couldn't decide where to put them. So I got my Pyrex coffee pot and put it with them on my tea cart. I just love all the shiny gold trim.

Hope you had a good weekend, too.
