It has been a crazy, busy weekend. It started off with a ballet recital for my youngest granddaughter who is four. They had to have their hair slicked up in a neat little ballerina bun and wear specific colors of make-up. I got recruited for dress rehearsal and recital to help with hair and make-up. Here is my daughter doing Shelby's make-up. Shelby was in 7th heaven to be wearing big girl make-up.
The recital was at the amphitheater at the World's Fair Park in Knoxville. Shelby was patiently waiting to go on stage.
They did a couple numbers, but my favorite was In My Daughter's Eyes. She looks so much like her Mommy. Her dance teams performance was beautiful.
Her Daddy and big brother gave her flowers. She had a blast.
Saturday morning I had a Celebrate and Connect meeting for Thirty-One. We received an awesome amenity. I can't share it yet because not all the meetings are over so I don't want to spoil the surprise for other consultants. But I can tell you that there will be a new line of purses this fall. We will get a sneak peak in August when the special will be spend $35 and get any purse in the catalog at 1/2 off....including the new sneak peak! I can't wait.
I did get a chance Saturday to hit three yard sales. The first one didn't have anything, but one of the other people who stopped by told me about another one on down the road. There I found some vintge doilies. I am keeping one to go under my Pyrex primary color set. The other one is going to go to my sister. She love vintage as much as I do.
I also found this unique vintage candy dish shaped like a diamond. I really liked it and for just a quarter I wasn't going to leave it behind.
This kitty cat just begged to come home with me. The colors match my home office just perfectly.
That sale pointed me on to another one that was not advertised. I got there and it was being ran by the man who was very harsh and rude. I almost didn't stay but decided to look just a bit. I was glad I did because I found my first vintage loaf pan. It is a Glasbake and he only had $2.00 on it. So I decided to get it.
Right when I decided to check out, he was setting out a couple of Corelle bowls. There was something inside one of the bowls. When I looked, I gasped! I have been searching everywhere for a butterprint fridgie. I don't have anything in the Pyrex butterprint pattern and I don't have any Pyrex fridgies. When I spotted it, my heart stopped. I asked the price and he gave his standard $2.00 answer (he had a lot of stuff marked $2.00). I would have paid $5, I wanted it that bad. However, I have been watching a lot of American Pickers so I decided to ask for a bundle price. So I asked him if he would take $3.00 for both and he agreed (grudgingly because he was a major grouch.) So I actually only paid $1.00 for my fridgie. I am majorly excited.
Later I went to Walmart and found some Cadbury fingers. Anyone growing up in the 60's probably remembers the Cadbury Shortbread cookies. They were nothing but a shortbread cookie covered in chocolate and were absolutely to die for. Well, Cadbury fingers are the same thing, just a different shape. I snatched up a box and they are delicious. Hubby loves Little Debbie Oatmeal cakes and he loves anything with apple or oatmeal so I bought the new Apple Oatmeal pies for him. He says they are too die for.
Sunday, I did a quick little craft project. A few weeks ago the wind broke off a leaf section of my Swedish Ivy so I stuck it in a Mason jar of water to get some roots to grow. It grew rather nicely so I was ready to plant it. I put some dirt from hubby's garden area into a big coffee can that I had punch a few holes in and put gravel in the bottom. I planted my ivy in it. I gathered some burlap, jute, scissors and my glue gun.
I cut the burlap and glued around the can. Then I tied some jute around the burlap. I had a galvanized tray I bought a few weeks ago at a yard sale. It has a flag painted in it. I put the can on the tray and put it on the front porch. Here is the finished product.
Sunday morning right before I was due to leave for church, I took something outside and a wasp flew up my shirt sleeve and onto my back a little below my shoulder and I got stung twice. Felt like I had gotten a tetanus shot. I had never been stung by a wasp before and hope never to again.
And then Sunday, we had church and choir practice. But that afternoon, when I should have been relaxing, I decided to rearrange my Pyrex shelf to make room for my new pieces. It is coming together nicely.
Now, it is time to go back to work and start a new week. I have a ballgame to go to tonight. My son is the coach and my grandson plays so I get doubly excited about going. I didn't get to go to any of his games last week because one was cancelled, hubby's scheduled changed and we had something to do during the second game that week and I had already committed to helping with recital. So I am looking forward to tonight. Here is their team. My son, Chris, is the one on the back road, far right. And my grandson, Garret, is the one on the front row, second from the left.
