Love getting organized

My craft closet has always been one of those places where it stays so unorganized. The main problem was the fact that I had things in so many containers with or without lids that I was constantly having to dig through containers to find what I wanted. I also wanted a place to see my yarn at a glance. Last week, my hubby mentioned that the shake mix at work came in milk crates and the vendor doesn't take them back. He was talking about how they pile up and they needed to get rid of some. Inspiration stuck and I had him bring me some home.

I tried them out by stacking them on their sides with the top toward the front.

I layered them in my closet and started filling them with yarn. I still have more yarn to go through and need to sort by color (light/dark), but this is a start.

I put some fabric in another one.

And my applique pattern project in another one.

I stacked them all together with a couple of project baskets on top. I love having my current projects in their own basket so I can just grab the basket when I'm ready to work on it.

Several months ago, I had hung a shoe organizer inside the closet door to use for ribbons, glue gun, floral wire, dowel rods, etc. Just things I needed to remember I had and tools I need to grab without having to dig for them.

So now I have a nice, neat, organized craft closet. I still have a couple of containers to sort through to get out the rest of my yarn and material, but it's a start.

I am in love with your idea on the shoe holder on the door! I never thought of that and what a great way to hold the smaller things! Oh my poor closets need tending too! Maybe I can muster up some strength! LOL! Great ideas! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
