Some smiles for Saturday

Slowly Falling....

Even though it is still Summer and even though it was really hot yesterday, I am getting in a mood to decorate for fall. I am ready for oranges, browns, yellows and reds on the leaves and around the house.

I have been looking at autumn craft ideas on Pinterest for the past couple of weeks. I have gotten a lot of good ideas and that has really boosted my mood for fall. 

I normally wait until September first and then take the whole day to clean house really good and pull out the fall decor. 

But this past couple of weeks I have grown really tired of looking at my spring/summer kitchen table. It's pretty and I love my tablecloth, but I am starting to get over it.

It didn't help matters that I bought a new tablecloth last weekend at Kohl's. With all their discounts and a $10 coupon I received, I got this $40 tablecloth for just $9.99. I got so excited that I couldn't wait to use it. So I decided to slowly "fall" into autumn a little at a time....starting with my new tablecloth and my fall sunflowers I use every year in my McCoy pitcher.

I am loving it. 

What a change scrapbook paper can make

I have this three drawer white storage chest in my craft room. It is always disorganized because I keep scraps from other projects in the drawers. They are all items that are still usable and I toss things in the drawers. Then I am forever rummaging inside them to find something so they stay a mess. This is what you see when you look at it. 

I saw something on Pinterest I thought I would try. I went to AC Moore and bought some scrapbook paper that went with the decor in my room. Then I cam home and started the project. First I measured the inside of the drawer fronts. 

Then I measured and cut the scrapbook paper to match those dimensions. 

I put just a thin stream of tacky glue in the upper corners to hold it in place. 

Then I slid and fitted it on the inside of the front of each drawer. (You could also use wallpaper for this.)

Then I cut some for the grooves on the top of the chest and here is the finished project. 

I am very happy with the results. This one is going on Pinterest under the projects I've completed. 

What we needed.....

A little bit of this and a little bit of that.....

I need to go visit some antique stores and thrift stores again pretty soon. I need to add to my Pyrex 401 bowl collection. I want to collect as many patterns as I can in these little bowls. They are great for so many things. 

Recently, I used one to put some cherry tomatoes I picked from Hubby's vine. They look so cute in my little bowl.  

Certain Pyrex bowls are used for certain reasons. This was the first one Hubby ever got brave enough to use (he thought they were just for looks for a long time). He uses this one now every time he makes bacon gravy for breakfast/supper.

The only time I use this one is for blackberry cobbler and that is always in the summer. I need to think of something to use it for during the winter since it has the pretty snowflakes.

I would love to find some more pastels for my pastel collection. I love these solid bowls. 

I'm getting beach fever. We are going on vacation next month and I am hoping to visit some antique stores or vintage thrift shops while I'm there. Every time I walk in my bathroom and see my beach collection on the corner tub, it makes me want to start packing. 

Sometimes when we have something for so many years, we get so used to it that we don't even realize it is vintage. It is hard to think that items from the 70's are being called vintage now, but they are. This is a hurricane lamp I earned by having a Stanley party in the early 70's. I still love this lamp and don't ever want to part with it, but sometimes I just take it for granted because I've had it so long. 

I forgot to show you the Thirty One amenity I received for attending my meeting last week. I love their Organizing Utility Tote and use it for so many things. So I was thrilled to get another one for free. This is one of the new fall patterns called Big Dot. I love my bag!

About a month ago, one little leaf broke off my Swedish Ivy plant during a storm and I stuck it in water to sprout roots. 

When it had enough roots and started sprouting a couple extra leaves I planted it in a container. It is really growing.

Well, that is about all I have for today. I'm heading over to AC Moore to get a few craft supplies and then to Office Depot to get some things for my home office. I'm trying to do it in pink and black so I can incorporate some of the Thirty-One Pink Pop Medallion into the theme.

Busy, Busy, Busy

How are things in your neck of the woods? It's been a busy week here. I am working on some Thirty-One projects and trying to build my business so I'm staying pretty busy with that. I am doing some remodeling (again) in my office at home. I am trying to make it more motivational for working on my Thirty-One business. 

I saw a red leaf in my Bradford pear tree yesterday. That's my first sign of fall. 

The University of Tennessee gave a sneak peek of some of their new uniforms for this year. That means it is almost football time in Tennessee. We decided to wear our UT shirts on Friday's. Guess I need to get me one if I'm going to wear one. I don't have any, which is unbelievable since I live in the heart of UT country.

School started today. I can't believe I have a grandchild in high school this year. I have two going into fourth grade and one starting kindergarten. That just leaves one grandchild still at home, but he turns 3 in October so just a couple more years and they will all be in school.

As fall gets near, I start looking on Pinterest for ideas for new craft or decorating projects for fall. I saw one I really liked. I had seen a similar one last year, but never got around to making it. 

This one is cute and wouldn't take much to make. It would look cute on the front porch.

This is cute. We used to do Christmas trees with Reader's Digest when I was younger. This would be fun to make.

I think I might just spend the weekend doing some crafting and organizing.
