There's excitement in the air.....

It's getting closer. Hubby and I will soon be taking a trip to Myrtle Beach. We haven't been in three years. I can't handle the heat like I used to so we prefer to go in September when it is less crowded and not as humid, but still hot enough to enjoy sitting on the beach to read, which is how I spend most of my days. 

Later in the afternoon, we take a break and do some exploring the various little shops around town. Hubby made my day yesterday when he said he thought we should check out some antique stores, flea markets and thrift stores this year. We haven't been to the beach since I started collecting vintage items. I am thrilled. There is a lady on Craigs List from Myrtle Beach that has this Pyrex set for sell. It's $45 for the whole set, but that just makes it $15 each. This is one of the patterns I recently added to my collection. I'm debating on calling her to see if she would take less and I could pick it up when I go down. 

Another piece I found on Craigs List from South Carolina is this beauty. I am currently obsessed with getting more of this pattern. She is only asking $10 and I need to find out how close she is to towns I will be traveling through. If I can avoid shipping charges, I would love to get this on my trip. 

I did some searching and saw some neat items in the antique and thrift stores at the beach. Doubtful they will still be there when I go on my trip, but would love to be able to check them out. I'm looking for one of these Campbell soup mugs for my soup. I will go to this store and check it out. 

One shop there is called Homespun Antique and Craft Mall. I love those type of stores. They have these cute little kittens on their website, but I sure wouldn't pay $20 each for them. 

I will definitely visit the booth in their store that sells fabric. Oh my, oh my. I saw some very cute fabric patterns on their Facebook page. 

I can't remember which antique store site I saw this picture on, but check out the milk glass. I am still looking for a white hobnail flower pot. Maybe I can find it here.  

No trip to the beach is complete unless I get to go to Toby's World Gifts in Little River. We go there on every trip and back at the very end in a separate little room there are wall to wall shelves filled with tea cups, tea sets and my favorite...tea for one sets. They are reasonably priced and hubby treats me to a new one every single time we go. I love collecting them and can't wait to get a new set this time as well. 

I'm getting very excited to go. 

A very productive evening

We decided we wanted breakfast for supper last night. Hubby was busy fixing a skillet of hash browns. 

And frying up the most perfect bacon ever....

...when I decided to work on my craft room. I swear I spend more time working on my craft room than I do on my crafts. I'll get it like I want it one of these day. I bought a vintage utility card at a yard sale last week and I've been trying to figure out where to put it. You guessed it...THE CRAFT ROOM. I am running out of room for my Pyrex in the kitchen. I am to the point where I stack it and you can't see the patterns. I see other people using Pyrex around the house so that is what I decided to do. I took my little utility cart and put it in the craft room. (I need to do some touch up work on it but I'm going to wait till vacation time to do that). I found some placemats I'm not using, that went with the bowls I wanted to use. On the top shelf, I used my Town and Country pieces. One holds my reading glasses that I use to craft and I'm going to put my magnifying glass in there too. The other is going to hold the Pearl Cotton Thread for my primitive stitching projects. 

The next shelf is my Homestead and Americana 401 bowls. One has odds and ends like a seam ripper, small scissors, pins, thimbles, needles, etc. The other holds my crochet hooks. 

The bottom holds my Glasbake loaf pan with my fall fat quarters for upcoming primitive stitching projects. The other is my Cinderella Golden Scroll bowl with a ton of various colored thread spools. 

I am just loving the finished product. 

Some fall craft ideas...

Time for a little crafting for some new fall projects. I went to AC Moore and Walmart over the weekend and got some goodies. This is going to be a fall wall hanging. I'm thinking something along the lines of a pumpkin or two and some pumpkin vines or some leaves. 

This purple blanket is going to be for Halloween. My plan is to put a witches broom and riding the broom will be a jack-o-lantern in a witches hat. Don't know if I can pull it off, but we will see. 

I really like the pumpkin in this pattern.

I think I see a trip to the Pattern Hutch or the Cherry Pit in my near future to get some patterns. 

Hump Day

Why is hump day even more enjoyable when you had a three day weekend? I was off Monday, worked Tuesday, then thrilled today is Wednesday. Here's a little humor to help get you over the hump today.

Day 2 of yard sale finds...

Saturday, I got up early by myself and headed out down Boyd's Creek. It is usually a great location to go to yard sales. People just stick signs on the road; they don't even advertise in the paper. I took a lot of side roads and got some pretty decent bargains. The first stop was to go back to the one from Friday to see if I missed anything. I got a bag of vintage lace for .10 cents.  

She had these three patterns from the early 1980's of peasant skirts. They were all the rage when I got married in 1981 and they are coming back into style. I have a friend who has opened her own business and she is making peasant skirts so I picked these up for her. They were just .05 cents each. 

She also had a pair of scissors that were extremely nice. They were older scissors but you could tell they were barely ever used. For just a dime I had to get them. They are perfect for cutting material.

 

Then I went onto another sell and found this cute doily and this neat little acorn candy dish. I'm getting  ready to decorate for fall so I thought these might come in handy. 

I got these vintage Little Golden Books for just a nickle a piece. 

One place I went, had some free ribbon so I got some orange to use in a fall decoration I'm doing.

This was just a quarter at another sale. I thought it was cute. 

But my deal of the day for Saturday was this Gevalia coffee pot that was still in the box. She had got a Gevalia and a Keurig and decided to just keep the Keurig. So I got this for just $5.00. Since Hubby's coffee pot went kaput, we haven't found one we liked and we needed a black one to match the other appliances so I wasn't about to pass it up for $5.00.

A yard sale paradise...

Friday and Saturday were unbelievable with bargains at some local yard sales. The first sale I hit on Friday was an older couple who had been married a couple of years and this was their first yard sale ever. Here is what I found at that sale.

These were from the .05 cent box. Vintage fruit bowl and vintage Tupperware. 

I got the pretty white plate for patriotic holidays.  The Christmas cookie containers is two per pack so I got four containers in all. The total for the plates and the containers was just .30 cents.

I got all four spoons for a total of .2.0 cents. These are destined for craft projects.

My first Pyrex pattern was spring blossom. I couldn't pass up the two cups in that pattern. Especially at .10 each. 

These two beauties were Fire King and in excellent condition. I need to fix supper using them one night this week. They were just .25 each. 

You know I love Pyrex and I collect a lot of it. My favorite pieces are the 401 bowls. I want to collect one in every pattern. The most I have paid for one is $6.00 and the least I have paid is $3.00...until Friday when I found this little cutie in the .10 cent box. I almost cried with joy.

But the deal of the day went for this little beauty. I have been scouring antique stores for one of these in any color. I plan to spray paint this one. These go for $20 - $40 in our antique stores. I picked this baby up for a meager $2.00.

I would say that is quiet a haul for one stop at one yard sale and only spending $3.40 total for everything! Come back tomorrow to see what all I found on my Saturday sales I visited.
